Teu's story

Teu T. is a 54-year-old woman living in the town of Malie JA. She is married and has 9 adult-aged children. To make a living, Teu owns and operates a business venture in the agriculture sector raising crops. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from planting and harvesting fruit and vegetables for sale. Teu has been engaged in this business for more than 4 years and earns approximately 350 WST a month from these activities.

In 2004, Teu joined SPBD to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Teu has successfully repaid a previous loan of 1300 WST from SPBD. This previous loan was used to purchase general farm supplies and equipment. Teu is now requesting a new loan of 2000 WST, which will be used to invest in expanding the business. The loan will be the seventh loan that Teu has taken out from SPBD. Teu plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
