A loan of $650 helped to buy a solar energy system.

Yolanda Janeth's story

Yolanda lives in a community of Yoro. She went to primary school there, and at the age of 14, her parents took her to live in the hamlet where she lives now.

She worked with her mother, and at the age of 18 she met her present husband, with whom she has four children. She and her husband work together in ranching and agriculture.

She doesn't have access to electrical energy in the place where she lives. It is for that reason that she is applying [for a loan that] will help her to acquire a solar energy system.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Pam McMurry

This loan is special because:

It provides enough solar power to run multiple lights and appliances at once.
