A loan of $300 helped to start a poultry farming business on her farm.

Gladys's story

Gladys is a smallholder farmer who resides in a remote village in Eldoret. Gladys, 42 years of age, is married to her handsome husband, who plays an important role in their farming business.

Gladys specializes in crop farming and dairy farming. Through farming, Gladys has gained so much recognition, and this makes her a proud farmer.

Though she loves the profits she obtains from selling milk and her crops at her local market, she is not completely satisfied. Gladys wants to start a poultry enterprise that will provide her with additional income in order to meet the rising standards of living.

She loves poultry, and she’s self-assured she will earn revenue through selling eggs, chicks and poultry meat.

Gladys was inspired by the efforts of Juhudi Kilimo in alleviating rural poverty through financing enterprising women like her, and she has appealed for a loan. Gladys has also learnt that Kiva lenders are able and willing to support her by lending in a move to elevate her living standards.

This loan will have a lasting impact in her life and that of her family. Kindly consider this industrious young woman.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
