A loan helped a member to purchase a motorcycle for her children to ride to work and as well as for her family to use.


Smeu Group's story

Smeu is on the far right of the photo, aged 52 year old. She is a widowed mother and living with her two children in the village in Svay Reang province of Cambodia. She is a farmer and has been earning income from agriculture activities to support her for the past 17 years. She can makes only $1 US per day. Her family income is also aided by her two children who are garment factory workers.

She is now asking for a loan in a group of three members. She would like to use her share of the loan to purchase a motorcycle for her children to ride to work, as well for her family to use. She is confident that this loan will allow her to have enough money to buy a motorcycle and reduce their traveling expenses.
