A loan of $400 helped to buy cereals to sell at her local market.

Leah's story

Meet this young, visionary, and enthusiastic woman who resides in Eldoret, in the Rift Valley of Kenya. Her name is Leah. Leah is married and lives with her husband and cute children. She is one of the passionate small-scale farmers in her region. She loves her family and has embraced farming as a means to satisfy her family’s basic needs. Her main focus is on maize and vegetable farming, dairy and poultry keeping.

Leah has often times been forced to engage in personal businesses aimed at making profits for her family. She has discovered that there exist very few cereals vendors in her local market. She has realized that with her hard work and perseverance, she could buy quality cereals from neighboring farmers and sell them at her local market. She will also feed some of the cereals to her children.

Leah has appealed for a loan from Kiva to top up her savings and start the new venture. Kindly consider her request.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
