Chhorn's story

Chhorn B., age 35, is married and has 2 children who are not yet old enough to have been enrolled in a school. He lives with his wife in Phnom Penh City. He and his wife work together in a sewing business at home to make a living. This earns them collectively an income of US $5 per day.

The financial crisis has been difficult for business in Cambodia this past year. This factor has played into a difficult economic year for much of the country, B. included. The country's economic struggles always seem to affect the poor the most. In light of the country's economic difficulties, B. is seeking to increase his income and improve his business. He is asking for a loan of US$ 1000 to purchase more various kinds of fabrics to use to design good clothes to sell.
