Dos's story

Dos P., age 38, is a widow who lives with her 15-year-old child in Kampong Cham Province. Her child is a mechanic with an income of around US $8.33 per day. To make a living, she produces baskets. Cambodian hand-made crafts require hard work and time to produce best output for competitive prices in the market. Typically, she is able to earn an income of US $2 per day. In light of the country's economic difficulties, which result from the financial crisis, P. is seeking to increase her income. P. is asking for a loan of $1000 to invest in her child's business. She will give this money to her child to buy spare parts for his customer's cars. She believes that this will help raise her standard of living.
