Lili's story

Señora Lili is 62 years old, single, and has one child. She lives near the center of the city of Pucallpa. She is one of three co-owners of a restaurant called "Chicharrones Porkys", which is located next to her house. The other two co-owners are Lili's siblings. Lili has been working with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for about nine years and is a member of the communal bank, "Las Guerreras" (“The Warriors”). Lili invested her very first loan of 300 soles (about $100) in the sale of fruits and juices. Later, she and her siblings set up their restaurant, which specializes in chicharrones (fried pork rinds). Lili is currently requesting a loan of 3,000 soles which she will invest both in her restaurant and in the production of corn and papaya on her farm outside the city. Lili has worked well with Manuela Ramos over the past nine years. The organization has helped her through some difficult times. She was even able to construct her house with the help of loans from Manuela Ramos and earnings from her business. Lili is committed to making her loan payments on time and to being a responsible member of her communal bank.
