A loan of $150 helped to purchase a solar energy home system for a stable economy.

Felipe's story

Felipe lives in the town of San Luis Acatlan in Guerrero. He is a farmer, a craftsman and most importantly, a father. At night, Felipe needs to light up his house with firewood and candles, spending about $300 pesos a month. Although this amount may not seem like much, for Felipe such expense has slowed down his business of crafting palm hats. These hats have been a cultural tradition since before the century and are iconic in the state of Guerrero.

Now by changing to a solar energy system, Felipe and his family would undoubtedly have a benefit in their way of living. Eliminating the monthly expense and most importantly having a source of clean energy with brighter light, will result in the boost of Felipe's business as well as his children attending school and being able to study at night.

This loan is special because:

It will provide solar power to remote communities in Mexico--electricity for the very first time!
