A loan of $350 helped a member to buy more vegetables to sell.


Upendo North Group's story

Siwazuri is a member of the Upendo North borrower group in Kinyanambo, Iringa. She is a 23-year-old woman, is single, and is the mother of one child aged 2 years. Siwazuri started her own business selling vegetables three years ago. She works twelve hours a day and earns a monthly profit of approximately 240,000 Tanzania Shillings. This is Siwazuri’s first loan from BRAC Tanzania. She has requested 200,000 Tsh in order to buy more vegetables. With the additional profit she gains from the use of this loan, Siwazuri hopes to save money and expand her business. Jenisia, another member of the Upendo North borrower group, has requested 250,000 Tsh in order to support her own food business.
