A loan of $200 helped to purchase more cartons of fish, gallons of oil and cartons of chicken to increase her business.

Zainab's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone.

This is 33 year old Zainab from Kissy Bypass branch. She is married with 4 children, between the ages of 4 and 12 years. She started her business because she wants to take care of her family welfare.

Zainab runs a fast food (fried fish) business at a busy market place from which she sells different kinds of raw fish by cartons and in small quantities to her customers. These are bought by her customers to eat when they are hungry. Her other source of income is from her husband.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more cartons of fish, gallons of oil and cartons of chicken to increase her business. Her business is going well. Zainab says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family.

In the future, she would like to see her business to grow into a big restaurant. She thanks you for your support.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative source of finance.
