A loan of $500 helped to buy fertilizer, pesticide, and high-quality seeds so as to improve her horticulture farm.

Agnes's story

Agnes is not a first time Kiva borrower and she has successfully paid back her previous loan. She is a youthful smallholder farmer.

She farms a small plot of land in the green, lush hills near Kapsowar in the Rift valley region of Kenya. Like many other farmers in the region, Agnes grows horticultural products and maize, which is a staple crop that she has been planting for as long as she can remember and also she keeps animals. Agnes also has a small personal business(shop).

Over time, the fertility of her land has started to dwindle, and her maize and horticultural yields are decreasing with each season. Agnes’s farmland has also been affected by weeds.

Agnes is currently requesting a loan from Juhudi Kilimo via Kiva lenders in order to buy fertilizer, pesticide, and high-quality seeds and improve her horticulture farm. Through this loan, Agnes expects to increase her horticulture crop production, which will translate into an improved harvest and a higher income. Thus, this loan will change Agnes’s living standards. Agnes is confident that if you invest in her business, 2017 will be a great year for her.

She thanks you wholeheartedly for your previous help and hopes for your warm response.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
