A loan of $550 helped her husband to repair his rickshaw.

Shaheen's story

Shaheen is a responsible mother of five children who lives in Lahore, Pakistan. Her husband, seen here, has been driving a rickshaw for 25 years to support the family. He is responsible for fulfilling the needs of the entire family.

Shaheen’s husband’s rickshaw is currently in poor condition. It needs work done on it on a daily basis. Due to insufficient financial means, though, he is unable to do major repairs on it.

Therefore, Shaheen has applied for a 55,000 PKR loan Kiva loan through its field partner, BRAC Pakistan. With the help of this loan her husband can afford the repairs easily. He then can provide better transport services and so earn a profitable income.

Shaheen plans to put some of these profits away to meet her family's future needs. She is very grateful for Kiva’s and BRAC Pakistan’s assistance.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
