A loan of $975 helped to buy for 200 day old chicks, 2 bags of chicken feeder, 1 bottle of chicken drinker and a litre of kerosene for her poultry.

Michel's story

Michel is 36 years old and is married with 2 children. She lives in a rural community outside of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

She runs and owns a small poultry selling chickens to her clients within and outside of her community to earn an income. She has been doing this for 10 years.

With her previous loans, she was able to increase her stock and meet her family's expenses. With the help of ongoing training from SPBD staff on how to run a business, she is making a good income and her business is running smoothly.

Michel is now requesting for a new loan to buy for more chicks and other necessities for her poultry. She plans to use her profits to build a new chicken house for her poultry business.

She joined SPBD in 2016 to gain access to financial services.
