A loan of $575 helped to buy a bull calf for her husband's livestock trading.

Shamim's story

Shamim is fifty years old, married and living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is pictured with her husband who trades livestock. He purchases goats, billy goats, bull calves, heifers and more from rural areas and sells them in the city. Feeding and caring for his livestock is very tough in his old age. He is putting in a lot of effort to earn money for he and Shamim's survival.

He does not have other sources of income to support his family and he has to wait until the Muslim sacrifice day (Eid-Ul-Azha) to generate maximum income. He wants to buy an additional bull calves to increase his herd but he does not enough cash in hand.

Therefore, Shamim has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan so that her husband can buy bull calves to sell. He can generate maximum profit to live their lives in peace and calm.
