A loan helped to establish new parcels of land for cacao, which will allow him to continue going to school.

Magdiel De Jesus's story

Magdiel is a 19-year-old young man. He started to harvest cacao thanks to the example of his father, with whom he appears in the photograph. Although his farm is 52.88 hectares, only .88 hectares is cultivated with cacao. In addition to planting and harvesting cacao, Magdiel is in his second year of high school.

The production of cacao is low due to the small area used for this activity. Although he also grows basic grains, these are for personal consumption. He is requesting financing to establish .70 hectares of cacao. However, his goal is to achieve five hectares with cacao trees. As part of PAC’s [Association for People in Community Action] commitment, the technical team has provided the vegetative material to use. This will ensure strong, vigorous plants. Thanks to the support that this young entrepreneur has had from his family, he has managed to improve his income, which has translated into better living conditions.
