A loan of $850 helped a member to buy gasoline, plow her field and purchase fertilizer.

Reoun's Group's story

Mrs. Roeun S. leads a loan group with six members, all of whom live in Tranh village in Takeo province. She is farmer who owns a plot of land on which she grows rice. She is facing problems because she does not have enough money to buy gasoline, plow her field or purchase fertilizer. She has applied for this loan to meet those needs. Mrs. Roeun S. is a 44-year-old widow with three children who are in school.

All the members of this group have applied for end-of-term loans which do not require them make any payments on the principal until the end of the loan's term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because they benefit Cambodia’s poor by allowing them repay portions of the principal when they are financially able to. Most clients start to make their payments many months before the end of the loan term, and almost all of AMK’s client make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva loans.
