A loan of $1,050 helped to purchase sheep meat for her business.

Badamhand's story

Badamhand B. is a widow with two children aged 28 and 22. Her family lives in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city. In 2002, Badamhand started running a butcher stall in Huchit shonhor, the local food market. She buys sheep meat for 800,000 - 1,000,000 tugrugs ($1 USD = 1450 MNT) from the wholesale centers on a daily basis and resells all of them on same day.

Besides selling meat through the stall, she also provides a few restaurants and cafes with their daily meat needs. Her youngest son Bat-Erdene is a university student. After his classes he helps his mother's retail business. With the profit, Badamhand pays her youngest son's university tuition and she also invested in her eldest son Batbold's grocery store business. Since her business inventory has decreased she is requesting a loan to increase the inventory.
