Telmar's story

Telmar M. D. C. G. runs a small general store in Boane, Mozambique. She has been running this store since 1995 with the help of two employees. Her best selling product is beer, which she sells for MT 30. Telmar is able to make around MT 5,500 a day through her sales. Her income allows her to set aside a little bit each month in a savings account. She learned her trade way back in 1987 from family members.

With this loan, Telmar plans on increasing her product inventory to meet customer demand. In the future, Telmar wants to open a second store in a different district in Boane. She plans to pursue this goal with the help of microfinance.

Telmar is originally from Zavala, but moved to Boane at a young age with her family. She studied through the tenth grade, at which point she was forced to stop, as she was pregnant and did not have time to dedicate to her studies.She is a single mother of three children between the ages of 6 and 14.
