A loan helped to pay for private coaching fees and to buy study materials so that her son can continue his education.

Rashmita's story

Smruti is a six-year-old Class 1 student. He lives with his parents in Khurda District, Orissa, and is studying in Gayatri Vidya Mandir, Bhubaneswar. His mother Rashmita is a tailor and earns 8,000 INR, which is barely enough to manage her household expenses. Due to her poor financial background, she does not have enough funds to pay her son’s tuition fees and purchase his textbooks at the same time.

For this reason, Rashmita (who appears in the photo with her son) is requesting a loan of 30,000 INR from Mahashakti Foundation, one of Milaap’s field partners. She and her family are grateful for the lenders for their support so that Smruti can have a brighter future.

This loan is special because:

It enables women living in rural India to pay for their child's education.
