Mary Njeri's story

Mary K. is a 36-year-old single mother who has one son. Her son is 12 years old and he is in the sixth grade at school. Mary lives in Uthiru Village, which is a peri-urban estate.

Mary operates a beauty salon at Uthiru, a business she has had for the last nine years. She got to know about KADET through a friend who was also a member in one of its borrowing groups. Since Mary joined KADET she has taken out two other loans, and this will be her third one.

Mary has plans to use this loan to equip her saloon with modern equipment so that she will be able to meet her clients' needs. Likewise, she also intends to buy hair treatment and hair accessories which she can supply to other businesses or beauty salons. In the future, she hopes to become a supplier of such products in the area of Uthiru.
