Safarmo's story

Safarmo is 47 years old. She is a resident of the city of Dushanbe. She lives in the western part of the city. Each day, early in the morning Safarmo goes to the market, to her sales outlet. She has been selling pies with "sambusa" stuffing for more than 5 years. Safarmo sells her homemade pies in the market. Safarmo's daughter helps her to sell them. She has two daughters. With her business, Safarmo was able to give her older daughter in marriage, and the younger daughter still lives with her.

Now she does not have enough money to expand her business. Safarmo is taking out a loan in order to purchase ingredients to make the pies. She also intends to rent a retail outlet in the future. With the remaining funds, Safarmo will make partial home repairs.
