N. Margaret is the leader of Umoja group in Seeta. She is a hardworking lady who has had a retail shop business in Kiwanga Trading center for three years. This is her first loan with the group and she hopes that the loans will help her rebuild her shop with more stock hence be able to make more profits.

Margaret is the single mother of two children and she cares for two grandchildren. Three of the children are in school. She is happy that she is not renting her shop premises hence the transformation won’t be so bad.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
