Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,050 helped to buy another motorcycle for his business.

Daniel's story

Daniel K. is 33 years old and married to Milka Muthoni. Together they have two school-aged children.

Daniel has been in the motorcycle taxi business now for two years. He was introduced to KADET by a friend of his and has so far taken three loans from the institution. He bought his first motorcycle with the first loan, used the second loan to repair and service the motorcycle, and now he wants to use the third loan to buy another motorcycle. The new motorcycle will allow him to grow his business and create employment for someone else; that person will rent the new motorcycle from him and operate it.

Daniel's ambition is to move from just owning motorcycle taxis to owning an automobile taxi service in future.
