A loan of $1,200 helped purchase feed for dairy cows (ensiled sorghum, cornhusks, and balanced feed).

Flora's story

Flora M. G. is 37 years old and has been married for more than 17 years. She has 3 daughters, ages 15, 8, and 6. The three girls help care for the cows after school. Flora lives in the community of Maica Central in Cochabamba, where she has 3 cows, whose milk she sells to a micro-business that has been making cheese for more than 15 years.

Flora takes care of the cows all day with the help of her sister-in-law, a 17 year girl who goes to school at night. Her husband works as a carpenter out of their home, making doors, chairs, tables, etc.

This loan will be used to purchase feed for her cattle, ensiled sorghum, cornhusks, and balanced feed. Improving the feed for the dairy cows will increase their milk production, and thus increase her income so that she can purchase more cows and improve her quality of life. In the future she dreams of taking out another loan to purchase more cows.
