A loan of $675 helped purchase chickens for breeding.

Rosa Elena's story

Sra. Rosa Elena is a member of the communal bank group “Nuevo Amanecer”, which consists of 13 members who live in the Zhidmad community, located about 30 minutes outside the city of Cuenca in southern Ecuador. The main business activities in the area are agriculture and livestock.

Sra. Rosa Elena is 57 years old, married, and has 5 adult children. She also has 13 grandchildren. She owns 2 dairy cows that produce the milk she uses to make cheese, which she sells to dealers. Each week, she produces 10 pounds of cheese. She also grows corn, but it is strictly for family consumption and not for sale.

The loan she is requesting will be used to purchase chickens for breeding. Her future goals include starting a business selling eggs and acquiring some pigs.
