Nicholas's story

Nicholas O. is a 27-year-old small restaurant owner who lives and operates his business in the Mukuru slum in Nairobi, Kenya. He is married and has one child. He is asking for a first loan of Ksh. 20,000 to buy chairs, tables and sufurias (pots) for his business. Having faced the challenge of unemployment, Julius began his small food business, which he is currently operating and desires to expand.

In addition to supporting his family, Nicholas also supports his parents and educates his sister. Nicholas hopes to expand his business into a big hotel one day. He describes himself as friendly, interactive and hardworking.

Faulu Kenya aims to empower Kenyans by providing relevant financial solutions. Faulu is a sustainable and profitable microfinance institution that offers savings and credit services to over 225,000 Kenyans. Faulu recently became the first MFI in Kenya to be licensed as a Deposit Taking Micro-Finance Company, which will enable Faulu to better serve its clients.
