A loan of $10,000 helped to establish my cafe.

Elis's story

Hello, My Name Is Elis Tortora, I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic . I came to the United States when I was 17 years old to further my education. When I finally settled in I found that going to school wasn't as easy as I thought. I worked 2 full time jobs and a part time job. I met my now husband and best friend Steve while I was working at a Café he ran in Boston back in 1997. After years of our paths crossing and realizing we needed to be together were married in 2004. We have two handsome boys, Seven 9 and Christopher 5. We both work very hard and try to provide a good home with lots of love. I was and still am a nanny, Steve had been in the Food Service Industry for 37 years where he opened new locations hired and trained staff for his former employer. With our children getting bigger and our desire to stay involved we thought it was time to take our experience and open our own place.

This loan is special because:

It will fix machinery and fund deliveries for this home-style Latin American food cafe.
