A loan of $1,000 helped buy crates of live chickens.

Dalila's story

Dalila belongs to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Communal Bank located in the Bellavista district, Bellavista province, San Martín department. She is 48 years old, has a partner, is mother to 4 children, 2 of whom are still dependent upon her.

She has been selling butchered chickens for 13 years in the city’s Central Market. She began with a loan from Manuela Ramos selling a few chickens, becoming very accepted with steady customers.

She continued her successful business and now she sells chickens in bulk. Today she has the same business in a rented stall in the Central Market where she provides service to the restaurants and housewives. With this loan for S/.3000.00 Nuevos Soles she will buy crates of live chickens and with part of the money buy new tools like a digital scale and new knives to replace the one she now has.

Today she is an independent woman and she manages and makes the decisions for her business. Dalila says: Belonging to a group of women has helped her better know her rights and together they work to be respected.
