A loan of $600 helped increase merchandise and invewst in husband's business.

Nene's story

Nene is 44 years old, she lives with her husband, who is a fisherman, and her 4 children who are students. For a living she buys and sells bananas. Therefore she gets up very early every day to go to the port where she buys bananas from the farmers to sell on the local market or at the port itself. She has been doing this for 5 years and is doing well. She also likes it and does not need physical effort and she only works specific hours. On the other hand business is profitable as this fruit is popular as it is used in almost all the regional daily dishes. For the future Nene would like to purchase a stall at the market to set up her business so she does not have to sell in an informal way. This is her 2nd loan with MFP and she likes to work with her community bank as there are no problems with the members and all are very responsible with their payments. With the money she will buy bunches of bananas for 1000 soles and the rest will be invested in her husband's fishing business to buy nets, floats and other material needed for his work.
