A loan of $1,000 helped to buy large livestock and grain.

Fermina's story

Fermina belongs to the community bank "Manuela de Hoy" which is located in the Ilave district, El Collao province, Puno Department, Peru. She is 35 years old, married, and the mother of four children. Fermina completed her primary school education and now lives in the community of Urani Marca Callo.

She has worked with the Manuela Ramos movement (a Peruvian feminist organization) for five years. She used her first loan, of 300 PEN, to buy small livestock.

She is now requesting a loan of 3000 PEN in order to buy large livestock to fatten. Fermina will use part of the loan to buy grain to sell at regional fairs.

Her greatest dream is to be able to sell products wholesale.

She enjoys the savings accounts and the meetings of her community bank.
