Juana's story

Juana belongs to the “Manuela D. Hoy” Community Bank in the district of Ilave, province of El Collao, department of Puno, Peru. She is a 67-year-old married mother of six children and has no formal education. She lives near the town center of the village of Camicachi. She has worked with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for almost a year, and her first loan was for 300 soles, which she used to purchase small livestock. Currently she is requesting a loan of 500 soles (approximately $175), which she plans to use for the purchase of sheep and pigs. Her goal is to keep working. Juana enjoys the savings, meetings, talks and interactions with her community bank.
