To make ends meet, Daniel works a day job in a packaging factory and nights and weekends running his business, Puerta Cleaning Services. He specializes in carpet cleaning and odor control as well as standard house cleaning, but his portable carpet-cleaning machine isn’t powerful enough. In order to keep clients from going elsewhere, Daniel put a deposit down on a used truck-mounted cleaner that would enable him to serve more clients more efficiently. The new cleaner will help him expand his business, hire an employee, and make him less vulnerable to job loss if the factory where he works closes.
A $7,000 loan from Opportunity Fund will help Daniel purchase the truck-mounted cleaner. It will also allow him to invest in advertising and marketing to build his client base, including putting a decal on his cleaning van.
Kiva realizes that access to credit is a challenge for entrepreneurs everywhere. Kiva started out as a website focused on developing-world entrepreneurs. In June 2009, Kiva began experimenting with allowing entrepreneurs in the United States to raise money on its website. If this is something you support, please feel free to fund this loan.
