Pku- Ywar Thar Aye 1 (B) Village Group's story

PKU- Ywar Thar Aye 1 (B) village group is situated in Central Myanmar’s Pakokku Township in a village of 181 households. Pakokku Township is famous for its production of tobacco, the Myanmar traditional cosmetic "Thanakha", and cotton textiles. The residents of this area work mainly in farming, raising livestock, and commerce. Also, they generate additional income by sewing and crafting handmade products such as bamboo chairs, mats and other similar items.

Pictured above are Win Ou, Mar, Myint, Ye, Win Nu who are Kiva loan clients in this village group. Included in the photo is Win Ou (1st from the left), who is 43 years old, married and has three children.

This loan is able to help Win Ou in hiring laborers to help during the busy planting and harvesting seasons and to help her in purchasing high quality fertilizer which will boost crop yields. This boost in crop yields will lead to increased crop sales so that her profits will grow. Win and her husband have high hopes for their children which is to ensure they graduate. They expect their children to have their own businesses and be independent after graduation.
