Pku-Ywar Thar Aye 1 (A) Village Group's story

PKU-Ywar Thar Aye 1 (A) Village Group is situated in Pakokku Township, in the Central region of Myanmar. Agriculture is important for people residing in this region. The major crops are sesame and groundnuts. Other crops grown are rice, millet, maize, sunflower, tobacco, chilies, onions and potatoes. A famous product of this region is thanakha, which is a Myanmar traditional make-up.

Five loan clients are included in PKU- Ywar Thar Aye 1 (A) Village Group whose names are Tin Tin, Moe, Swe, Nu and Tin Ou.

Tin Ou, (standing first from left in the picture) is a single woman, age 40, who lives with her three family members. Tailoring and crop farming are the major sources of income for Tin Ou's family.

Tin Ou’s Kiva loan portion will be invested in hiring laborers for her crop farm. Tin Ou aims to tailor more this new year and also to expand her farm.
