A loan of $825 helped increase her merchandise and buy a motorbike.

Sylvia's story

Sylvia is a 40 year old single mother. She lives with her 3 children, who are all high school students. She has been selling beverages (soft drinks and beer) from home for 3 years. Part of her house is sectioned off with public Internet booths for rent. She finds her work entertaining. Her business has been quite profitable because she sells frozen drinks that are consumed daily because of the intense heat present in the region. The Internet booth rentals have also provided a steady source of income.

Sylvia is a very active woman who now wants to start another business selling wood. She is currently on her 7th loan with MFP; she will use 300 soles to purchase drinks and, with the remainder, acquire a motorbike to be used for her wood sales business. She enjoys working with her communal bank, which was started by a group of her friends. They have demonstrated great responsibility and organization.
