A loan of $1,200 helped purchase sound equipment for special events.

Andrés Vinicio's story

Andrés R. R. is a 32 year old man. He lives in the Costa Rican rural community of San Cristóbal Norte, located 45 kilometers south of San José. San Cristóbal is a slightly mountainous area where you will find different types of businesses such as vegetable farms, coffee plantations, arts & crafts, livestock farms and more. Don Andrés lives with his wife and daughter.

For approximately 10 years, Don Andrés has provided mobile disc jockey services, karaoke and traditional Mexican serenades for special events, such as weddings and parties. He is very proud of his business since it has had the support of the community and the neighboring areas from the beginning. With the help of his brother, Don Andrés is able to keep his business afloat.

At the moment, Don Andrés is requesting a loan of 685,000 colones ($1200 USD) to buy sound amplification equipment. He hopes this will help his microenterprise grow and generate more income to improve his living conditions. Don Andrés is a member of the Community Credit Corporation of San Cristobal Norte (SACRIN), one of the 100 partner organizations affiliated with EDESA in Costa Rica. He has received 2 previous microloans, which he has repaid responsibly. He says “thank you” for the chance to develop and grow as a person.
