Sonia's story

Sonia is 38 years old, and is a very hard-working woman. She has 2 sons whom she adores, and she lives in her own home, built from adobe. Beginning in her youth, she helped her parents in their agricultural jobs, and since having her children, she has worked even harder, planting potatoes and peas. Since six years ago, she has also had her own grocery store. Her daily schedule is organized such that she spends her mornings attending to her store, and after 2 in the afternoon, she works with her crops, making sure that they grow uniformly and healthily. Sonia is very happy with her crops, as she can already tell that her work to grow them has not been carried out in vain. Her satisfaction is added to even more by the regular customers who she can count on at her grocery store. Her two lines of work enable her to cover the costs of her children's education; one attends high school, and the other is in primary school, and for them Sonia works very hard in order to provide them with the best comforts and opportunities possible.

This is her eighth loan with MFP, and during her 7 previous cycles she demonstrated herself to be very punctual. Although she sometimes is not able to attend her communal bank's meetings, she always makes sure in such instances to send the amount she owes with one of her partners at the bank. The money that she asks for now is for the purchase of chemical fertilizer and various supplies for her grocery store.
