A loan of $500 helped food ingredients and kitchen tools.

Mariela's story

Mariela is a member of the community bank Los Proceres, in Tarapoto, San Martin. She is 35 years old, married, and has five children, all dependants. Mariela is a young, motivated woman; she thinks of herself as a hard worker and a fighter.

For ten years she has been selling food, and this provides her with a reasonable income. Mariela has decided to expand her business into a local catering service. In order to best serve her customers, she will run her new business from her current location-- all with her characteristic zeal.

Mariela says that business is good these days; she and her food are well-liked and have a good reputation. With this loan, she'll be able to purchase plenty of ingredients, including rice, sugar, potatoes, bananas, and chickens. She'll also be able to purchase some new kitchen tools.

Mariela is a happy woman; she's pleased with the progress her business has made, and hopes things continue to go well for years to come. She is grateful to the Manuela Ramos group for helping her fulfill her dreams and grow her business-- and for helping other women do the same.
