A loan helped to purchase a complete solar power system.

Mohammed's story

Mohammed, 56 year-old, is a married man who lives with his wife and four children in a small rented house in Hodeida governorate, Yemen. He is the breadwinner of his family as his wife is not working.

Mohammed works in the public sector and his salary hardly covers the most essential expenses especially with the high increase in prices since the beginning of the ongoing war for more than 21 months. Also, most of the public services, especially electricity were stopped. Living in Yemen is becoming unbearable, especially for young children who cannot bear high temperatures. Finding another source for electricity costs a lot and Mohammed cannot afford it.

Therefore, Mohammed has decided to look for a financial institution to give him a loan to purchase a solar power system and was happy to know that Al-Amal Microfinance Bank is providing interest-free loans for purchasing solar power systems. He immediately decided to visit the nearest bank branch in Hodeida governorate and apply for a 350,000 YER loan to purchase a complete solar power system: four 150w solar panels, a 100 amp. gel Battery, a 2000W power inverter, a 50A solar charge controller, a water pump, a DC/AC LED TV, DC/AC ceiling fans and cables.

Mohammed is sure that his wife and children will be very happy to get electricity once again in their house.

This loan is special because:

It provides clean energy to people affected by violence in Yemen.
