A loan of $675 helped purchase pea seeds.

Haydee's story

Haydee is 35 years old and is a very strong and courageous woman. She became a widow six month ago and currently lives with her three children in her own home. After the death of her husband left her indebted, her main economic activity became planting and selling diverse products, and she had to stay strong and work doubly hard on her crops. The land and her efforts bared fruit, and she was able to pay off all of her debts. Since then she has been much more calm and motivated to keep working for the wellbeing of her children, who are still growing. She hopes the older ones can help with the planting. Haydee enjoys cultivating and caring for her plants, especially her peas, because she can harvest them three times with only one planting and that helps her generate very nice earnings. Her goal for the future is to increase her production to be able to purchase more land to cultivate, which will help her earn more money for her children's education. This is her 10th loan with Kiva partner MFP, and she has shown herself to be very responsible and dedicated to her payments. In the various events the community bank organizes, for example sporting functions, Haydee is who lifts the spirits of her companions because she has earned the esteem of all the bank's members. She plans to use the money she is requesting to invest in the purchase of two bags of pea seeds that resist frost.
