A loan of $875 helped to purchase more animals.

Carmen's story

Carmen is 47 years old and lives in her own house with her husband and her 7 children. She sells food typical to the region which she makes using pork and sheep meat that she has been raising herself in her stable for 10 years. Carmen began selling these dishes 26 years ago with very little money, buying only a few kilos of meat and over time, with her savings, she was able to buy her own animals. Each morning, she cleans and takes care of her animals because she spends the afternoons and weekends preparing the food and selling it on the main streets, at festivities, or at any social event in her area. Over time, she has noticed the results of her efforts in the satisfactory earnings that she has obtained. As a result, she wants to continue working in this type of business and purchase more animals that will provide her with larger earnings. This is Carmen’s eighth loan with MFP. She is very supportive and enterprising at the communal bank and she hopes to continue moving forward with her group. The money that she is asking for will be invested in the purchase of wholesale pigs and sheep.
