A loan of $575 helped purchase of meat and beer for her business.

María Magdalena's story

Mrs. Maria Magdalena is 49 years old and lives in the Moche district in the province of Trujillo, department of la Libertad, Peru. She completed her primary studies and has now two children who depend on her economically. Maria works selling meat and beer, a business she has had since she joined Manuela Ramos. She began without much merchandise, but little by little her business has grown, and she now distributes her products in the Moche district and in Trujillo. She has a stable clientele (made up of relatives and friends), and besides the aforementioned business she also prepares food (for family members only).

Her meat is supplied from Virú and the beer is bought from wholesale stores. She re-invested the first loan of 300 S. that she recieved from her Village Bank "Comunals Virgen de Fatima" to purchase more meat. The 1,700 S. she is now requesting will be used to buy both meat and beer. Maria's dream is to have her own shop, from which she can offer the products she currently sells.
