Phol O., 38, is involved in the agriculture sector, growing garlic plants and beans at her plot of farmland since 2000 with a typical income of US$2 per day. She is married and has five children. Three of her children are students and the rest are employed as garment factory workers with a reasonable income to make a living. Her husband typically makes a living with his skill of fishing and helps his wife with her business. Currently, cultivation is a main source of generating income; however, O. recognizes that her husband’s skill is also important to make improvements to better her family's standard of living. Therefore, she has requested for a loan of US$1000 to purchase a fishing boat and fishing tools for her husband. (O.'s husband is pictured because she was not available.)
