Hort's story

Hort K., 57, is involved in a business in the agriculture sector. He plants corn and farms tree fruit for sale on his plot of land, located about 30 kilometers from Phnom Penh City. He has a typical income of US$ 2.5 approximately. He is married and has three children. One of his children is a student, and the rest are employed at a garment factory. He also specializes in traditional fishing. He produces ordinary fishing tools and goes fishing on his own. Seeing an opportunity to generate a better income for his family in agriculture sector, Teng is asking for a loan of US $800 to expand his business by purchasing corn seeds, fertilizer, manure and materials for creating fishing tools.
