A loan of $500 helped increase merchandise and buy a display case.

Carmen's story

Carmen, 42, lives in her own house with her children, Oswaldo, 22; and Nicol, 20.

She has been selling beauty products for two years. She started this business because she needed work that she could do at home. That is why she decided to start selling to her relatives and friends. It turned out to be very profitable. She now sells to the whole neighborhood. She is well known because she always knows how to give good beauty advice. Carmen works almost all day. She goes to her neighbors’ houses to chat and inform them about the products that she offers. The other part of her time she spends on collections. This is the most difficult part of the business when payments are overdue or people simply do not want to pay. Happily, this does not happen often. Each time she learns more, and she does not make the same mistakes.

Her plan for the future is to have another business in her house. She has not decided what, but she has different ideas.

Carmen has been with Mircofinanzas Prisma for a long time. This is her 16th loan. She is characterized as being very punctual with all of her payments. She will use the money she is now asking for to buy a display case to exhibit and offer her cosmetics in the door way to her house. She will also buy products to have in stock.
