Norma's story

Norma P. A. is a member of the communal bank “Cesar Vallejo” and lives in the city of Pucallpa. Norma sells beauty products from Avon, Esika and Unique. She also sells sewing materials and makes and sells beaded jewelry.

Norma has been working with Manuela Ramos for nine years and used her first loan to purchase sewing materials and fabrics. Norma will use this loan of 2000 Nuevos Soles to expand her line of products for sale. She plans to purchase gift items such as soaps, hair elastics and some clothing items.

Norma is 63 and lives with her husband, her mother and her niece's 7-year-old child, whom she is raising. Norma has five of her own children, all of whom have moved out of the home. Norma must spend a lot of her time and money caring for her husband, who was incapacitated following a stroke. She has had less time lately to sew and make her jewelry products as a result. Norma has been happy working with Manuela Ramos and feels that she has been well supported by the organization. She is also pleased to have a lot of savings through Manuela Ramos’s mandatory savings program.
