A loan of $975 helped to buy a variety of items for her business.

Fanta's story

Mrs. Fanta C. is 48 years old and lives with her 7 children and her husband in a monogamous family, in the neighborhood of Darsalam in the city of Ségou (4th Administrative Region of Mali).

She left school in the 6th grade (Malian school system) and started a small business selling juice with her mother, who had a refrigerator. After many years in that business, she mastered the ways of business. Understanding that women love cosmetics, she started this business by selling in the market. After ten years of this activity, she opened a shop in a main thoroughfare which is easy to access. She is very popular and appreciated by the women for her knowledge of the products and advises them about the items they choose; Fanta is wonderfully well-known in Ségou.

With the intent of increasing her business, she is working with Soro Yiriwaso, with whom she has worked for the past 54 months. After 4 group loans and 2 individual loans which were all properly repaid, she is on her third individual loan. She will use this loan to buy 5 boxes of hair extensions, 3 boxes of perfumes and 2 boxes of cosmetics in the Republic of Senegal and will sell them for cash to a mostly female clientele.

She hopes to earn a monthly profit of 45,000 FCFA, which she will use to pay for some family expenses. Her goal is to have a house.
