Chhim's Group
In this Group: Chhim, Chhim, Chan, Oum
Chhim S., 55, has been chosen to be leader by other members of this group loan. Chhim S. currently owns a bicycle, which she uses for riding to buy used goods at the cheapest price door-to-door and then sells them out to gain a profit. She is a married woman blessed with two children, one of whom is married and lives separately, whilst the other one is still living in the family home. Another source of income is from her husband who works in construction. Chhim S. is applying for a loan to purchase an old motor for her family’s traveling needs. This will help the family reduce paying tax costs. The other three borrowers who are jointly taking this loan are:
M., a farmer, who is asking for a loan to buy piglets to raise.
M. who will be using the loan to decorate her house.
L. who will take out this loan to buy a used motor to make the family's transportation easier.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
