She is responsible for caring for her three year old neice, which she she says provides her with the strength necessary to move forward. For the last four years she has operated a store from her home and, little by little, and with the help of loans from EDAPROSPO, she has improved both her economic and personal status. She will invest the majority of the loan of S/ 1,000.00 [approximately US $340] to further supply her store and, with any leftover money, will improve her home.

The Alcom las Violetas is comprised of 10 members, is in its third cycle, and has until now spent a total amount of S/ 8,400.00. Each member is dedicated to a different activity such as the sale of CDs, orange juice and candy, among others. They are very punctual and responsible clients that help each other out and do not allow any individual member to fail. They reached out to EDAPROSPO because the organization supports them not only in improving negotiations but also to improve economic and personal issues.

Ms Felipa's goal is to have Internet access again, which was shut down due to economic difficulties.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
